Jing’an (acoustic tropical) Rock
Posted by gunsella in Uncategorized on September 18th, 2009
shanghai’s (and possibly all of asia’s) best acoustic tropical rock band, break for borneo, played a great show at urban on jiaozhou lu last night. they are starting a residency there every thursday night from 6-9. i am starting to believe that you should keep up with B4B to find all the belgian beer in shanghai. their last residency was at kaiba, a bar specialising in the belgian liquid gold. i expect to see them soon at di shui dong where i believe vedett and duvel are available.

last night was also special on account of the birthday of adam, co-singer/guitarist in the band. happy birthday, dude.

adam was rocking with his new vox amp that he purchased a few weeks ago on jinling lu. it’s a tiny little bugger but it managed to cut through the mix quite nicely. well done on a good show, nice harp playing, becca!

saturday night was get in the van III held at the zhijiang dream factory with an after party at yuyintang where boys climbing ropes played. there were four bands at the first venue. first on was the dropkicks, followed by my other band, the rogue transmission. after were two bands from beijing – 24 hours and the gar.
there are some great pics on web2asia’s flickr stream . i managed to nick some thumbnails.
this one’s from catlin:
the dropkicks are cool. i played with them two weeks ago at live bar (with the dtjs)
and this is the last moment of live music that night at the dream factory. this is the lead dude from the gar throwing his guitar into the amp. it then toppled off the back of the stage.
and off to beijing tomorrow for a show at D-22 with the carsick cars. sick
